Kids Read to Cats and take Cuteness to the Max

Kids read to cats and take cuteness to the max. Berks County Animal Rescue League created a “Book Buddies” program where kids read to cats. Most masculine cat man ever, Ernest Hemingway, found cats have a great appreciation for literary talent and he often read to polydactyly cats at his Florida estate.

When kids participate in this “Book Buddies” program, they feel more comfortable reading aloud in class and their reading scores improve. As a famous polydactyl cat named @CatFoodBreath has said, “Everything is better with cats.”

Students can begin participating in the program in first grade and continue through eighth grade. Kittens to senior cats love to hear good stories.

I think that this program is absolutely wonderful! It encourages and promotes so many valuable ((in my opinion)) things, e.g., interest in books/reading, literacy, kindness and compassion for/towards animals (CATS!!!!), and interaction with an organization like the Berks County Animal Rescue League. I imagine that re: this last point, quite a few children have not had much exposure to the world of NPOs, and with those that serve the needs of animals in particular.

Entered the $250 for fall. As for the kids? It is great! There is a place where the kids even go to the shelters to read to the animals there. And I have no doubt they each enjoy it. The kids get some practice and company and the animals get some company. There is even a place where they have the high school students taking the dogs out for a run or walk. In one photo it showed a girl carrying a tired pooch back to the shelter.

Any activity that brings animals and children together in a caring setting already has my vote. That this connection helps the children build confidence in reading is an amazing, but not surprising, plus.

I know the pets can calm the kids and get them to pay more
attention to reading. They use pets in prisons to rehabilitate
people – stands to reason they should help the kids.
thanks for the chance to win.
