“Think where man’s glory most begins and ends. And say my glory was I had such friends.” William Butler Yeats
Wouldn’t it suck to live without friends who recommend books? One of my favorite poets, Yeats, was recommended by a friend I met one summer. It was like Christmas in July.
I keep hearing and reading that it’s Kitten Season. Shelters are looking for foster and permanent homes for kittens. If you’ve ever fostered or adopted a kitten, you know that every morning with a kitten feels like Christmas. And most cats will check out any box like it could contain the most fabulous Christmas present ever.
While kittens and cats are always awesome, the circumstances of each of their lives are not. I wrote a special Christmas story, A Christmas Feral, a few years ago to raise awareness of feral and stray cats. The statistics are grim. It’s estimated that 80% of stray cats are killed in shelters. Brutal, isn’t it? Imagine getting to adulthood and having only a 2 in 10 chance at continued life. Most stray cats are never reunited with their humans. Keep your cats close.
In A Christmas Feral, Judge Scrooge won’t even heat his home for Christmas. He says that when you pay the bill, you don’t feel the cold. When Judge Scrooge rules incorrectly in a cat dispute, two magical and cool cats, Tatania and Zeus, teach him the meaning of keeping Christmas and cats.
Praise for A Christmas Feral:
“A story that would do Charles Dickens proud.”
“Heart warming and pawsome.”
“If you love cats, you will love this!”
