Pacific Coast Steamship Company

In their next adventure, Grace, Jack, and their magical cats, Tatania and Zeus, are on the trail of a missing person who was last seen at the Pacific Coast Steamship Company’s dock in San Diego. The Pacific Coast Steamship Company likened its ships to “luxurious floating hotels”. Its ships, called, “President”, “Governor”, and “Congress” sailed from San Diego to Alaska. Stops in between included Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Touting its virtues over rail travel, Pacific Coast Steamship Company promised fresh air, games, dancing, excellent meals and free libraries. I think it would have been fun to take a ship from San Diego to San Francisco. And round trip fare was only $19.00 — including berth and food service.
