1920s First Lady Grace Coolidge

1924 White House Portrait of Grace Coolidge by Howard Chandler Christy

First Lady Grace Coolidge personified Roaring Twenties glam in her White House Portrait. With her beloved collie, Rob Roy, Grace Coolidge posed for Howard Chandler Christy in 1924. President Calvin and Grace Coolidge were the greatest animal lovers since Teddy Roosevelt to occupy the White House. She famously carried her pet raccoon, Rebecca. And perhaps most importantly, a cat named Tiger shared the Coolidge White House and often appeared draped around the President’s neck.
