Beautiful Tasha

Beautiful Tasha, the splendid cat who adorns Splendid Summer, left this planet on August 14, 2011.    Abandoned on a porch one December, weighing only a pound, and deaf, Tasha found her way to my college roommate, Deb Houdek Rule and her husband Geo Rule.   Tasha embraced life in ways only a deaf cat would — she rode on vacuum cleaners!

Tasha spent sixteen years on this planet with her adoring human parents.  When I told Deb about Splendid Summer, she said Tasha proudly stepped up to play the role of Tatania.    Thank you, Beautiful Tasha.

And God asked the feline spirit, “ Are you ready to come home?”

“Oh, yes, quite so, and as a cat, you know, I am most able to decide anything for myself.”

“Are you coming then?” asked God.

“Soon, ” replied the whiskered angel, “but I must come slowly for my human friends are troubled.  They need me, quite certainly.”

“But don’t they understand?” asked God. ” That you’ll never leave them?  That your souls are intertwined? For all eternity?  That nothing is created or destroyed?  It just is…forever and ever and ever.”

“Eventually they will understand,” replied the glorious cat, “For I will whisper into their hearts that I am always with them.   I just am…forever and ever and ever.”

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my wonderful Kaspar Sept. 11, 2009. What a lovely story (although I believe that God is a cat).

  2. So beautiful… Thank you!
